Around Mals/Malles – diversity instead of monotony

Ski resorts
in Vinschgau/Val Venosta

Mals/Malles lies at the heart of five completely different ski resorts: Watles – the family mountain with far-reaching views. Sulden am Ortler/Solda all’Ortles – the glacier ski resort on Mount Ortler. Belpiano-Malga San Valentino – the sunny high plateau,  Nauders am Reschensee – the Tyrolean snow paradise and Trafoi – the small ski resort for families. Each area has its own character, its own atmosphere. And the best part? You don’t have to decide. From Mals/Malles you can reach all five ski resorts in a short time, with the journey taking between 15 and a maximum of 40 minutes. That means you can visit Watles today, Sulden/Solda tomorrow and Schöneben/Belpiano the day after. New slopes, new views, new experiences – all always guaranteed. Variety instead of monotony – this is what skiing holidays in Vinschgau/Val Venosta are like.

The family mountain right on your doorstep

Watles ski resort

Watles is Mals/Malles’ local ski resort. 15 minutes by car from Mals/Malles, 2,557 metres high, 20 kilometres of slopes. The ski resort is perfect for families, leisure skiers and anyone who appreciates relaxed skiing without the hustle and bustle of mass tourism.

Ideal for anyone who is new to the sport or starting again. The slopes are wide, well-groomed and not too steep. Perfect for feeling safe.

From the mountain station, you can look out over the Ötztal Alps, the Ortler Alps and the Sesvenna mountains. A 360-degree panorama that is second to none.

Thanks to the altitude (1,860–2,557 m above sea level), snow is guaranteed from December through to spring.

The sunny high plateau

Belpiano-Malga San Valentino

Belpiano-Malga San Valentino is an insider tip for anyone who wants to soak up the sun. The ski resort with 65 perfectly groomed kilometres of slopes is located on a high plateau between Italy and Switzerland – here the sun shines longer than anywhere else and it’s only 15 minutes away from Mals/Malles.

Even the smallest ski enthusiasts have plenty of space here to learn to take their first turns, and lifts with child fall protection on the practice slopes ensure safety and peace of mind.

Ideal for all those who like to carve long turns on the slopes and also perfect for the youngest ski beginners trying out their first turns.

The huts on the Malga di San Valentino serve homemade specialities – from Kaiserschmarrn pancakes to the Speckbrettl bacon and bread platter.

Glacier feeling at 3,250 metres above sea level

Sulden am Ortler/Solda all’Ortles

40 minutes by car from Mals/Malles lies Sulden – the highest ski resort in South Tyrol. Here you can ski at altitudes of up to 3,250 metres above sea level, surrounded by three-thousand-metre peaks and glaciers. Sulden/Solda is more challenging than Watles, but more spectacular.

Steeper descents, longer runs, greater elevation gains. A dream for advanced skiers.

The longest descent in the ski resort leads from the Madritschjoch (3,250 m above sea level) down into the valley – 1,900 metres of vertical drop, 8 kilometres of slope fun.

Skiing with a view of Mount Ortler (3,905 m above sea level) – an experience you won’t forget

The Tyrolean snow paradise

Nauders on the Reschen Pass

Nauders is just a 25-minute drive from Mals/Malles – right on the other side of the Reschen Pass, already in Tyrol. The ski resort is modern and snow-sure from November to May, and has slopes for all ability levels.

75 kilometres of slopes, from blue to black runs. Something for everyone.

The black run down from Bergkastel is a challenge for experts – steep, long, spectacular.

The huts in Nauders are known for their warm Tyrolean hospitality. Here the apple strudel still tastes like grandma used to make it.

In the heart of the Stelvio National Park

Ski resort
Trafoi

In 30 minutes by car, you can reach the idyllic hamlet of Trafoi  with its ski paradise for families. Perfect for anyone who wants to combine tranquillity, nature and skiing fun. In the heart of the Stelvio National Park, you can enjoy a unique panoramic view of Mount Ortler – far away from the hustle and bustle of large ski resorts.

4 lifts and 11 kilometres of slopes offer relaxed skiing for beginners and advanced skiers alike.

Away from the slopes, untouched nature awaits you around the ski resort – perfect for winter hiking and snowshoe tours.
